ACTING ACADEMY SENIORS
Acting Academy Seniors was established in 2013 to provide workshops for students aged 10-16 years who want to develop their acting, dancing and singing skills.
In 2015/16 we will be continuing to hold focused workshops covering acting, mime, contemporary dance and singing.
Our guiding philosophy is to unleash creativity through focused ‘play’ to unlock the individual’s capacity for creative self-expression. Through improvisation exercises, students will learn through experience and experiencing.
In our Acting For Camera sessions, students will explore new techniques in preparation for acting in Film, TV & Commercials. This also provides a springboard for contrasting stage and screen acting.
This year, professional film actor Robert Harrington led a three week workshop, directing a scene from The Princess Bride. Students learned the differences between acting for film and theater acting and were given the opportunity to practice with professional cameras.
Exciting times ahead! The Seniors class is every Saturday from 12-2 pm in Holywell Community Centre. This is an excellent course for young acting talent and will finish with an end-of-year showcase in June in a professional Dublin theatre.
