ACTING ACADEMY JUNIORS
Our Juniors classes are held weekly throughout the school year. Classes are kept small to ensure that each child gets individual attention.
Acting develops confidence, self-esteem and emotional awareness. The acting taught in Acting Academy is ‘Process Acting’, a distinctive method of teaching and learning through drama.
Acting
Children are encouraged to think creatively and from a young age develop their own individual style of acting, dancing and singing. We are always amazed at how enthusiastic and talented our young students are. Working with experienced and dedicated teachers our classes offer a gentle introduction to acting and supporting disciplines.
From the age of seven children start learning about a range of dramaturgical techniques and are quickly directing their own short plays. The aim is to encourage students to formulate original ideas and develop their creativity and individuality. Students are taught to develop their listening skills and to help encourage others to realise their own ideas. We also teach puppetry which encourages confidence, imagination and helps the children lose their inhibitions.
Seniors is similar in content but more intensive than courses for Juniors. We find that performers who join this class want an exciting experience and enjoy working on advanced acting techniques. Read more about Seniors.
Dance
Dance is a wonderful way to improve concentration and co-ordination. It is also a great way to keep fit and stay healthy. We focus on hip-hop and musical theatre in Juniors. Acting Academy is well known for its funky dance routines. We use the latest music and often mix our own beats in these high energy classes. Dance moves are tailored for each age group and we work with the ability of each class.
We make sure to keep this challenging for performers in the Seniors level yet attainable for the less experienced Juniors.
Children attend Acting Academy for two hours per week with forty minute classes in acting, singing and dance. We have a short break in the middle of class for students to have a drink and a healthy snack.
